A1 30/100 30±4.0 μm Medium sensitivity (8~9)D2560~2880A/m (32~36 Oe)
A1 60/100 60±8.0 μm Low sensitivity (5~6)D1600~1920A/m (20~24 Oe)
  • Groove depth selection and sensitivity matching: Type A1 test pieces are available in various groove depths, including 15μm, 30μm, and 60μm. For high-sensitivity requirements (e.g., thin-walled workpieces), select a shallow groove (15μm); for thick-walled workpieces or low-sensitivity requirements, select a deep groove (60μm) to avoid misjudgment due to mismatch between groove depth and workpiece requirements.
  • Avoid excessive bending: Type A1 test pieces are relatively thick (100μm) and have poor flexibility. When attaching to curved workpieces, apply slowly and avoid forced bending to prevent breakage or groove deformation.
2. Type C Test Piece (50μm thickness, for narrow areas)

  • Segmentation and usage specifications: Type C test pieces can be cut into 5mm × 10mm pieces along the dividing lines. When cutting, use a special tool (e.g., a blade) to neatly cut along the markings to avoid burrs affecting magnetic trace display.
  • Small Area Adhesion Techniques: When adhering to narrow areas such as weld bevels and around bolt holes, use tape to secure the edges of the test piece, ensuring it completely adheres to the workpiece surface to prevent it from lifting during magnetization and causing magnetic field leakage.
3. Type D Test Piece (50μm thickness, for special applications)

  • Applicable Application Scenario Confirmation: Type D test pieces have relatively specific applications (e.g., testing thin-walled parts of a certain thickness). Before use, consult the testing standards (e.g., JIS G0565 or GB/T 15822) to confirm whether it meets the testing requirements of the current workpiece, avoiding the use of the wrong test piece type.
  • Magnetic Marking Comparison Verification: Due to limited data on Type D test pieces, it is recommended to use an A1 type test piece of the same specification in the same location after testing to compare the clarity of the magnetic markings and ensure the reliability of the test results.
4. M1 Type Test Piece (50μm thickness, dedicated to continuous method, single circular groove)
  • For continuous method testing only: The M1 type test piece is designed for continuous method testing (magnetization and magnetic suspension application are synchronized). It is prohibited for use with residual magnetism testing, otherwise, due to insufficient residual magnetism, the magnetic traces of the three grooves with different diameters will not be displayed.
  • Multi-groove magnetic trace interpretation: The M1 type test piece has three circular grooves: 12mm (7μm deep), 9mm (15μm deep), and 6mm (30μm deep). Under normal circumstances, all three grooves should display clear magnetic traces. If one groove does not display a trace, check whether the magnetization direction is consistent with the tangent direction of the groove (the magnetic field direction must be perpendicular to the circumferential tangent of the groove).
Post-use processing and recording
  1. Test piece recovery and storage: After testing, the test piece must be carefully peeled from the workpiece, cleaned, and stored in a dry container to prevent moisture and rust. Damaged or poorly engraved test pieces must be discarded immediately and must not be reused.
  2. Complete test records: The records must clearly state the test piece type (e.g., A1-15μm), the pasting location, the magnetization parameters, and the magnetic trace display to facilitate subsequent traceability. In particular, special operations for different types of test pieces (e.g., C-type segmentation size, M1-type test method) must be marked separately.
