B3 Stainless Steel Chrome Plating Dye Penetrant Inspection AS2083/2005, BS2704/1978/1983
Main application:
Dye penerant inspection
The Type B3 penetration test block (also known as the stainless steel three-point test block) is a means to test the sensitivity of the penetrant and verify the accuracy of the operation process. This test block determines the sensitivity level by displaying the number, quantity of lines, and clarity of three groups of radial cracks in the shape of small suns. It can also be used to check the corrosiveness of the penetrant to stainless steel materials.

Instructions for Use
Scope of Application
This test piece is an effective means of quality control for penetrant materials, processes, and operation levels. It is suitable for penetrant testing (fluorescent or color contrast).
Usage
There are three groups of radial cracks of different sizes on the working surface of the Type B3 chrome-plated test piece, corresponding to high, medium, and low sensitivity levels of penetrant testing respectively.
At the beginning of the penetrant testing work, the test piece should be processed according to the process requirements of the penetrant system in use (process the test piece together with the parts to be inspected), and then observe the display of artificial defects on the test piece. If the display is the same as that in the photo, the sensitivity of the testing system is normal.
This test piece can also be used separately for the selection and acceptance of new testing agents or for the assessment of the operation of testing personnel.
Reference Pictures
Each test piece is accompanied by a reference image picture, which is a record of the images obtained when the test piece is inspected by Grade II testing personnel using medium and high sensitivity testing agents and can be used for reference by the using unit.
Precautions
1. After the test piece is used, the developer powder should be removed. After scrubbing with or alcohol, soak it in a solvent for future use.
4.2. Implement the testing procedure on the test piece according to the instruction manual of the testing agent in use. Since the color contrast testing agent will affect the fluorescence effect of the fluorescent testing agent, separate test pieces should be equipped for fluorescent and color contrast testing.
4.3. When the test piece is not in use, it is advisable to soak it in a desiccator filled with a mixed solvent of 50% aceton and 50% alcohol.
4.4. The test piece should be dried before use.
